Job Description:

To assist pharmacists in providing professional pharmacy services to patients and staff of Cook Children's Medical Center and the community we serve. Clerical tasks include answering phones, recording, filing, and reporting pharmacy activities and services. After gaining experience, technical tasks will be performed, under the direct supervision of an experienced pharmacist. Competent in following pharmacy production areas: Central PO, Advanced Omnicell processing, non-sterile compounding, and compliance audits. Competent in advanced sterile preparation, including TPNs or Chemotherapy, and/or specialized areas like pharmacy satellites, TPN, Chemotherapy, etc.

• Qualifications:
  • Basic math, metric system, pharmaceutical chemistry, and medical terminology knowledge is essential.
  • General knowledge of office procedures, filling, and record keeping is essential.
  • Good telephone skills and oral communication skills are essential.
  • At least 1 year of experience in CCMC pharmacy and knowledge in advanced areas is required, or 1 year of hands-on IV preparation experience is required.
  • High School or Equivalent Required.
    • Certification/Licensure:
      • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or enrolled in ACPE accredited school of pharmacy.
      • Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration or Texas Pharmacy Intern License.
